The Ora Curry III Memorial Foundation is a non-profit, charitable organization with a mission to help young adults, charitable organizations, and deserving members of the Torrington community.In our 3 years since inception, we have awarded over $37,500 in scholarships and support to organizations and individuals in the Torrington community.And the best part is, we've only just begun. Our Inspiration

Ora Curry III was a proud Torringtonian and loving father of two children, Daley and Ora IV.Not only did Ora compete for Torrington on the gridiron from youth through high school, but he also dedicated years as a coach for the Torrington High School Football team, as well as several local youth teams.Ora gave back to his community by volunteering countless hours as a coach and mentor, leaving a positive and meaningful impact on the lives of many.In February of 2022, at 46 years old, Ora lost his courageous battle with Colon Cancer due to complications from Covid-19. In loving memory, the Ora Curry III Memorial Foundation was formed to honor his life and continue his legacy of giving back to the community.

Our Annual Fundraising Event

"O'Dawg's Oktoberfest" is our largest fundraising event of the year. Every October, around the time of Ora's Birthday, we gather to celebrate his life and enjoy some of his favorite things: Family, Friends, Live Music, Food, Drinks, and Games...while raising money for a great cause.

The 4th annual "O'Dawg's Oktoberfest" will be held at Elk's Pond on Saturday October 11th, 2025 from 12-6pm and feature live music, delicious food, great beer and cider!

Adult Ticket: $40.00 (Early Bird), $45.00 (Day of Event); Ticket includes Beer Mug, Live Music, Buffet, and Beer!Designated Driver Ticket: $20.00 (Early Bird), $25.00 (Day of Event); Ticket includes Live Music and Buffet!

Make a Difference

Since our inception in 2022, the Ora Curry III Memorial Foundation has awarded more than $37,500 in scholarships and donations to people and organizations in the Torrington community, including;

  • 15 Academic Scholarships to Graduates of Torrington High School

  • 7 Football Scholarships to Graduates of the Torrington High School Football Team.

  • The Torrington Police Athletic League

  • The Torrington Police Athletic League Toy Drive

  • The Cancer Care Fund of Litchfield Hills

  • Individual Assistance to Families in Need
